The Samsung Lions won their second straight game. Outside ace David Buchanan pitched well, but it wasn’t enough.
Samsung won the 13th game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against SSG Landers 5-4 at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Nov. 11.
After the game, head coach Park Jin-man said, “Buchanan pitched a gutsy game, breaking his KBO record, but I’m disappointed that he wasn’t able to secure the win.”
Despite not getting the win, Buchanan pitched six innings of two-run ball. It was Buchanan’s highest pitch count since joining the KBO. His previous high was 119 pitches in a single game. Last month on May 13 against the Gwangju KIA and last year on May 14 against the Daegu Doosan. He threw 129 pitches against SSG.
“It was good to see the batters stick together in the process of reversing the tie and scoring the final run,” Park said. “With Oh Jae-il coming back to life and the batting lineup getting stronger, we will continue to show that we will not give up until the end.”
Oh started at first base and batted eighth, going 2-for-4 with a double. His second hit came in the ninth inning when the game-winning run scored.
Lee Jae-hyun, a second-year player who started at shortstop and batted ninth, attacked a 140-kilometer-per-hour fastball from Oh Won-seok in the fifth inning for a solo home run over the left-center field fence. It was the first double-digit home run for Lee, who is expected to be the first pick in 2022.
“Congratulations to Jae-hyun on his first career double-digit home run,” Park said. 파워볼사이트
