Kim Hae-sung hits 400 career MLB home runs…second Korean to do so after Choo Shin-soo

San Diego Padres center fielder Kim Ha-seong (28) extended his hitting streak to four games and reached the 400-hit plateau in his big league career.

Kim went 1-for-4 from the sixth spot in the lineup against the visiting Washington Nationals of the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., on Thursday (June 24). He maintained a .225 batting average for the season.

After hitting 54 home runs in his MLB debut in 2021, Kim produced 130 in 2022 and 140 in 2023.

This season, he reached the 400-hit plateau with 76 hits in 101 games.

He is only the second Korean big leaguer to reach 400 career hits, joining Shin-Soo Choo (now with SSG Landers).

Choo joined SSG in the KBO after amassing 1,671 career hits in the big leagues.

Kim retired the first batter he faced in the top of the second inning on an infield popup with the score tied 0-0.

He hit a changeup up the middle from Washington left-hander DJ Hertz for a double.

The hit came in his second at-bat of the inning.

Kim laid down a bunt with runners on first and second, rolled the ball toward third, and raced to first for an infield single.

San Diego had the go-ahead run on Kim’s play, but the next batter, Jackson Merrill, struck out swinging.

The rest of Kim’s at-bats were a bit of a disappointment.

He struck out with runners on first and third in the top of the sixth inning with a 2-0 lead and was stranded on a fly ball to right field in the bottom of the eighth inning with a 3-0 lead.

San Diego won 4-0 and extended its winning streak to three games. 메이저사이트
