2023 Erzurum Winter Games Opens… 11-Day Battle Begins
Korea participates in 4 events… Challenge for silver medal in women’s curling team event
The 2023 Erzurum Winter De Olympic Games,
a grand winter sports festival for hearing impaired people around the world, opened on the 3rd (Korean time).
The Korean team participated in the opening ceremony held at the Turkye Erzurum Ice Hockey Stadium and began an intense 11-day competition. 슬롯사이트
Korea entered the opening ceremony as the 22nd country out of 36 participating countries.
The flag bearer was national curling team member Soonyoung Yoon (Seoul Disabled Curling Association).
Korea dispatched a national team of 52 people to this tournament,
including 18 athletes, 13 game officials, and 21 headquarters executives.
The national team will participate in four events – curling, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing,
and snowboarding – and aim to win a silver medal in the women’s curling team event.
The Deaflympics is the largest international all-around competition for hearing-impaired athletes and,
like the Olympics, is held every four years.
This competition was scheduled to be held in 2023,
but was postponed by a year due to circumstances at the venue.
This is the third time that Korea has participated in the Winter Games,
following the 2015 Khanty-Mansiysk and 2019 Valtellina and Balchiavenna competitions.
About 1,500 athletes from 36 countries will participate in this tournament and compete until the 13th.
Some sports have already started playing.
The curling mixed doubles pair of Yoon Soon-young and Kim Ji-soo recorded 4 wins and 1 loss in the preliminary round held from the 29th of last month to the 2nd of this month.
