Pepper Savings Bank snaps 23-game losing streak in pro volleyball

Pepper Savings Bank ended a nightmarish losing streak for the women’s professional volleyball team.

Pepper Savings Bank won the Dodram 2023-2024 V-League match against Korea Expressway Corporation 3-2 (23-25 24-26 25-22 27-25 15-9) at the Gimcheon Gymnasium in Gyeongbuk, South Korea, on Wednesday. It was their first win in 105 days and 24 matches since Nov. 10 against GS Caltex 바카라사이트 last year.

Pepper Savings Bank, which had previously suffered 23 consecutive losses, recorded its third win of the season (28 losses). The number of points increased to 10.

Pepper Savings Bank’s record for the longest losing streak in the women’s division, which was being broken with each game, was also stopped at 23.

The victory also comes amidst a recent controversy over allegations that a senior member of the squad had been bullying younger players.

Pepper Savings Bank started the day on the wrong foot, dropping both the first and second sets. However, the trio of Yasmin Bedardt, Lee Han-bi, and Park Jung-ah began to show their strength in the third set. The trio combined for 18 points in the third and fourth sets to push the match to a fifth set.

At 23-24 in the fourth set, Lee Han-bi saved the team with an open point, and at 25-25, MJ Phillips‘ service ace and Vanya Vukiric’s hitting error combined to set the tone.

With the momentum in their favor, Pepper Savings Bank jumped out to a 6-1 lead at the start of the fifth set. At 13-9, San Phillips blocked Jeon Sae-yan’s opener and Park Jung-ah capped it off with an open point.

Yasmin (34 points), Lee Han-bi (20 points), Park Jung-ah (18 points), and Phillips (11 points) were the top performers for Pepper Savings Bank on the day.
