The ‘Mungyeong World Taekwondo Hanmadang 2024’ (hereinafter referred to as the Hanmadang) will kick off at the Seonsung Hall of the Armed Forces Sports Unit in Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk, Korea, on the 26th.
This year, 4,446 athletes from 55 countries will compete in 94 categories (including demonstration events) in 15 sports over 30 days.
The individual competitions will include power striking, certified taekwondo, record contest, comprehensive striking, and competition, while the team competitions will include certified taekwondo, creative taekwondo, taekwondo gymnastics, and team competition.
The Kukkiwon started Hanmadang in 1992 with the aim of strengthening the popularity of taekwondo, and thousands of taekwondo practitioners from around the world participate every year.
“Hanmadang is open to anyone who holds a Kukkiwon black belt or dan certificate,” the organization said, adding, ”It is a festival of communication and harmony where the global taekwondo family of all ages can come together.”
This year’s Hanmadang is a hotspot for certified birds. A total of 545 people participated in the individual competition, more than twice as many as last year.
The opening ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on the 27th, the second day of the competition, at the Seonseung Hall of the Armed Forces Sports Unit. The Taekwondo City Troupe of Kukkiwon, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, will perform a special demonstration.
The Hanmadang is jointly organized by the Kukkiwon and Mungyeong City and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Gyeongsangbuk-do, the World Taekwondo Federation, the Asian Taekwondo Federation, the Korea Taekwondo Association and the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation. 바카라사이트
