“The English Football Association is considering including Sarina Bigman, 섯다 the women’s
national team coach, in its shortlist of candidates to replace Gareth Southgate if the
England men’s national team manager quits,” ESPN reported on Aug. 18.
“People always talk about ‘the best man’ or ‘the best Englishman’ to lead the England men’s team,” English Football Association CEO Mark Bellingham told British media, “but why does it have to be a man? You have to get the best ‘person’,” he said, leaving the door open for the men’s team to include a female leader.
The Dutchman, 53, led the England women to their first-ever final at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia-New Zealand 2023, where they face Spain in a one-off match on Tuesday.
Bijman, who won 99 caps as a defender for the Netherlands women’s national team, turned to coaching in 2006 and served as acting coach and head coach of the Dutch national team before officially taking over in 2017.
He led the Netherlands to the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, where they reached the final, 온라인섯다 but had to settle for runner-up honors in a 0-2 loss to the United States.
