Since its debut in 2021, boy band The KingDom has consistently emphasized that K-pop encompasses more than just music. According to the group, true K-pop involves not only music and stage performances but also the rich stories behind the albums. The seven-member group, composed of Dann, Arthur, Mujin, Louis, Ivan, Hwon and Jahan, has crafted fantasy-themed storylines for each album release, presenting every member as the king of a fictional realm. However, diverging from its previous personas, the group’s latest project, the mini-album “REALIZE,” signals a shift toward a more trendy approach.”While our past concepts of reigning over fantasy realms were fulfilling, they also imposed constraints,” stated Dann, the group’s leader, during a press event held to mark the new release at Ilchi Art Hall in Gangnam District, Seoul, Tuesday.”We are now eager to present a more modern approach, free from conceptual boundaries.”The significance of the group’s new album goes beyond its narrative; it signifies the first release under the group’s official name change from “KingDom” to “The KingDom.”
Member Mujin opened up about the name change, stating,”We had a lot of concerns about our group’s name from the very beginning. We felt that there was a lack of uniqueness due to contents already associated with the name ‘Kingdom.’ After much consideration, we decided to change our name as a turning point to unfold a new narrative.” The KingDom also underwent notable visual transformations for this album. Previously known for the members’ sophisticated appearance reminiscent of kings, they now embrace a more relaxed and refreshing vibe.”We used to wear elaborate royal attire, but now we’re sporting more casual, idol-like clothing, which feels incredibly more comfortable,” shared Dann.As they depart from their previous ventures, the title track of the new album, “Flip that Coin,” explores the potential for a radical change in destiny.”Just as fate can change with a coin flip in a soccer match, this song reflects our hope that our transformation will serve as the coin that changes our fate,” Dann said.”REALIZE” features five additional tracks, including “ENERGY,” “RusHush,” “GUNDAM,” “BEST THING,” and “Together.” The album encompasses a variety of genres such as R&B, hip-hop, house, and pop.Ivan expressed his aspirations to see the group’s revised name top major music charts with this album.”We have many aspirations as a group, but above all, we aim for chart success with this album. Additionally, we hope to hold concerts, appear 슬롯놀이터 on variety shows, and showcase our hard work in various ways,” he emphasized.
