The National Assembly’s education committee will discuss the protection of teachers’ rights with a question on the 28th regarding the recent extreme choice made by an elementary school teacher in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
At this meeting, the ruling and opposition parties will examine a series of cases of infringement of teachers’ rights and address legislative issues to improve teachers’ status and protect educational activities.
Lee Ju-ho, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education, will attend the questioning. However, the ruling and opposition parties are divided on the issue of calling the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Cho Hee-yeon and the principal of Seoi Elementary School, where the teacher’s death occurred.
